Meet The Client Advisory Committee
AMHS-KFLA’s blog is featuring Client Advisory Committee members sharing their experiences. The series continues with this post from Maggie.
I am a 47-year-old lesbian who has long been active and interested in social justice issues: doing everything including marshalling pride marches both here and Toronto.
Coming out in my twenties to the LGBTQ community was a challenge because this was also when my mental health deteriorated, with many hospital visits and med changes. I am now stable and have found a new voice in talking about mental health: both my own and in general. The area of stigma is my issue of choice.
I joined the Client Advisory Committee about 6 months ago and it has helped me put my voice into a venue where I can be heard and listened to, allowing me to have input into programming and other facets of the agency. P.S. the people are fabulous!
