My term as Supervisor comes to a close on March 31st, and I am grateful for the support of the staff team, our care partners as well as clients and caregivers who have all contributed to the journey to get to where we are today.

AMHS-KFLA has experienced significant change through 2018 to the present, and has emerged after this time of transformation as a healthy and robust organization, well positioned to deliver on its vision, mission, and values.

I joined the agency in July 2020, to build on the work of the previous supervisor, Karen Berti.  The leadership work is centered around one key area of focus – to establish high quality, timely access to services and supports for individuals in our region and establish the go-forward governance structure of the organization.

We have put in place a Joint Executive Leadership Model, consisting of the Executive Director Client Services – Carol Ravnaas and Executive Director Operations – Betty Jo Dean.  The Joint Executive Leadership have equal responsibility to lead the organization moving forward and report jointly to the Board.  We are pleased to have achieved these goals.

Together we have been able to provide support, coaching and mentoring to the agency Leadership Team, and continued to explore opportunities with our care partners in the region to collaborate and innovate to provide quality, client centred care.

To further establish the governance structure of the organization, in place is a new and refreshed AMHS-KFLA Board of Directors. This dynamic and diverse team was built using a collaborative governance model, which sought membership with cross-sector representation of our partner organizations, as well as the AMHS-KFLA Client & Family Advisory Council, and the public.

The agency leadership, staff team and board of directors in place are a highly-skilled group of individuals who all contribute to a vital and vibrant organization that provides quality, client centered care.

I am grateful for the support of agency staff, clients and caregivers during my journey with the agency and have appreciated greatly the contributions from all involved in the work we have done to date.  I am proud of all we have achieved together and look forward to seeing this journey continue for years to come.

AMHS-KFLA remains a key contributing member of the Frontenac, Lennox and Addington Ontario Health Team (FLA-OHT).  The agency’s board, leadership and staff team are well positioned to support the important work to come to transform our health system and build an integrated system of care in our region.
